If you are looking for April Kindergarten crafts then I’ve got you covered. I know how important it is to have ready-made activities for your pre-k, kindergarten, and first-grade students that are developmentally appropriate. It can be extremely frustrating to buy crafts, only to find out that they aren’t meant for our earliest learners or don’t have easier options for our littles. Pre-k, kindergarten, and even first grade are in a league all their own.
I have some fun and easy crafts that will let you stop worrying about activities and get back to teaching. Kindergarten April crafts are a fun way to work on fine motor skills and I’ve added optional writing activities that up the rigor as needed. These are completely optional. Students can draw or write on the writing pages. The drawing portion is perfect for preschoolers and the writing portion is great for kindergarten and first-grade students.
Here are some suggestions along with read-aloud choices that fit each craft perfectly.
1. Rosie Revere
This fun and engaging kindergarten April craft is fun and inclusive. It also works great in February for Engineer’s Day or March for International Women’s Day. This craft is super simple and comes with tons of differentiated writing activities that make this ideal for your earliest learners. It goes perfectly with the story Rosie Revere Engineer which is where you will find this craft.
2. Tops and Bottoms
This is craft is perfect if you are going over plants in April. You can find the book companion for Tops and Bottoms here.
3. The Good Egg
This Good Egg craft is of my favorites. He is so cute and perfect for April and a great way to have an Easter(ish) craft if you are not able to celebrate Easter. This craft works great in April. This is in my book companion for The Good Egg which is here.
4. Impatient Caterpillar
Now that we’ve covered plants and eggs, here’s a fun caterpillar book for April. This is a book companion all about patience and butterflies.
5. Recycle Craft
April is the perfect time to cover recycling since Earth day falls in April. This craft is the perfect companion to the book Why Should I Recycle?
There is nothing more fun than crafts in kindergarten. Adding writing pieces make this not only fun and engaging, but rigorous as well. All of these fun crafts have writing prompts to go along with them.
