Whew! You made it. Can we let the fun end of the year activities for kindergarten commence? No? Need ideas for some fresh ways to celebrate? I’ve got you covered with this list of 10 ideas to celebrate the end of the school year in kindergarten.
10 Fun End of the Year Activities for Kindergarten
1. Memory Book
Have students draw and write about their favorite memories. They can draw about their field trip, their school program, their new friends etc. They make cute memories that they will want to save forever.
2. Balloon Pop Countdown
This is one of my favorite things to do. You can fill them with a fun activity for the day such as a scavenger hunt, read on the lawn, dance party etc. I tape them to my bulletin board and pop one each day. It is super satisfying. 😉
3. Make a Class Book
Did you jump on the target dollar spot square book train? If you did (or didn’t) you can still make a class book. Have each student write a page about what they learned this year or their favorite part of the year. You can make copies for parents (if allowed) and keep the original for your own personal keepsake.
4. Send Thank You Notes
This one is so very sweet. Have students write a thank you note to one person that helped them this year. Your custodians, lunch staff, specials teachers, will appreciate the act of kindness.
5. Write a Letter to Their Future Self
This is a fun item you can keep and give it to them when they are a 5th grader. It is a fun way to keep up with your students along with their elementary careers. If that is too much of a commitment, you can give it to their parents. LOL.
6. Write a Letter of Advice to the Next Class
This one is a funny one. It’s always great to see what your kids truly think of their teacher and their year. In kindergarten, it’s usually positive. This can be a fun shared writing prompt.
7. Transform your classroom
I am never big on classroom transformations because of the prep but you would be surprised what a few dollar tree table cloths can accomplish. Why not set the stage for a tropical vacation during the last week of school. It is sure to be a big hit.
8. Photo-booth
I love doing the first day of school pictures and the last day of school(really the last week or so) of school picture. These are so fun to make a parent gift out of and your parents will appreciate it.
9. Red Carpet Awards Ceremony
If you are looking for a reason to use some of the red butcher paper in the copy room, a red carpet awards ceremony may be calling your name. Let students dress as Hollywood stars as they walk down the “red carpet” for an award.
10. Alphabet Countdown
This is my favorite. I also tie in the balloons and all the flair but I love being extra at the end of the year.
