I don’t know about you but I love fall. There is something about the weather changing that makes me feel good. Maybe it is the cool air or the pumpkin spice latte, but it is definitely my favorite season. I have some great kindergarten activities for fall that make planning a breeze.
Fall Activities
Nature walks and leaf tracing are two of my favorite things to do during the fall. I have the perfect story to accompany those activities.
This story is perfect because it does an amazing job of introducing positional words, the precursor to learning prepositions. This is a standard in most states for kindergarten. I have made some kindergarten activities that will help teach multiple concepts with this book.
We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt
There is sometime so fun and magical about a nature walk in the fall. We’re Going On A Leaf Hunt is the perfect read-aloud to get everyone in the mood for the fall season. I have also made lesson planning a breeze. I took the story and made lesson plans, scripted lesson, anchor charts, retell cards, vocabulary cards, exit tickets, crafts, and worksheets. This is rigorous enough that admin will be pleased but fun enough that the kids will be having fun too!
There are lots of options for crafts and you can take your students outside and practice the positional words that are discussed.
The visuals in this packet are great for your ESL learners! The vocabulary cards to a great job of explaining the words. The scripts are also perfect for substitute teachers because everything is written out. They are also great for new teachers that want guidance. These scripts ensure that you are hitting the big ticket items in the lesson cycle and building a solid routine for your students!

This unit is something you will use year after year! You will love how easy it is to use and prep! If you don’t want all the anchor chart pieces, just omit that part for even less prep!
