I know it feels like January was 3,146 days long but now it’s time for the Kindergarten Valentine’s Day party and activities. Valentine’s day is one of my least favorites, to be honest, so I always try to find a way to make it fun! Fun crafts, simple games, cookie decorating, and a craft bag to fill with Valentine’s.
Kindergarten Valentine’s Day Ideas
Not sure how to get started? I’ll show you some fun and simple DIY ways that you can enjoy your Kindergarten Valentine’s Day.
Step #1 -Gather Your Materials
I don’t like to spend a lot of my own money so I try to DIY several things. I will get some dollar tree bags or even a pack of brown lunch sacks at the grocery store. So gather some items and let’s get creative. Examples:
-Lunch sacks or dollar tree bags
-Leftover cardboard box (usually from printer paper at school)
-Anchor chart
-Markers, stickers, construction paper
Step #2 – Pin The Nose (Easy Version)
I make any games we may decide to play. The anchor chart is perfect for “sticking” the nose on the love bug. I actually should call it “stick” the nose because I will use stickers for ease. Heart foam stickers or any stickers will really work. I love this game and so do the kiddos.
- Anchor chart- Draw a lovebug on it like below. That’s all! Super simple.
Step #3 (Arrow Toss)
I just the cardboard box to cut a heart shape and cover it with duct tape or any kind of butcher paper and board. Then students can toss arrows or straws through the whole. Here’s an example of one I have made. I used a cardboard box, tape, and border that I had from the dollar spot.
The arrows also came from Target Dollar spot one year, but you can easily use straws from the cafeteria!
Step #4 (Craft Bags)
I have a few fast color and cut crafts that go perfectly on lunch sacks. Then students will pass out their valentines. I love the boxes project where students can bring a box in, but I’ve seen students not bring anything and it’s heart-breaking. I like to have this as an option so that everyone has a bag to collect their valentines.
Step #5 (Valentine Card Decorating)
I save my smelly markers and stickers for special occasions. This is the perfect time to make a card decorating station. This was actually my kids’ favorite this year.
Kindergarten Valentine’s Day
The total cost of your valentine’s party will depend on what parents are able to donate but if you have the school materials, you should only have to buy some stickers, markers (if parents don’t donate them), and lunch sacks. So, hopefully, you can keep the whole party under 20$. This also isn’t food-related! Which is great if you have students with dietary restrictions.
Not too shabby for a fun DIY Kindergarten Valentine’s Day!
